About Dolan Coffee

Discover Dolan Coffee, a hidden gem located at 3518 Connecticut Ave NW Unit D, Washington, DC 20008, United States. As a food blogger who appreciates both cultural authenticity and quality brews, I was immediately drawn to Dolan Coffee in Washington, DC—a spot that effortlessly blends specialty coffee with unique Central Asian flavors, offering one of the most distinctive local dining experiences in the city.

Dolan Coffee stands out by incorporating Uyghur-inspired influences into a modern café setting. Unlike typical coffee shops, this place offers more than just espresso-based drinks—it delivers a cultural experience through its menu. Prices are refreshingly accessible, with most drinks ranging from $4 to $7 and light bites between $6 and $15, making it a great choice for casual meetups or solo work sessions.

The menu features an intriguing mix of handcrafted beverages and savory pastries. Among the highlights, the Honey Butter Latte is a signature must-try—smooth, slightly sweet, and layered with a creamy finish that feels both comforting and indulgent. The Uyghur Lamb Bun is another standout, offering a flaky exterior filled with spiced, juicy lamb that delivers a bold and satisfying flavor. For those with a sweet tooth, the Cardamom Coffee Cake pairs beautifully with their house brews, adding a subtle aromatic spice that lingers pleasantly.

Customer reviews consistently praise both the originality and quality. One guest shared, “Dolan Coffee in Washington, DC is unlike any café I’ve visited—the flavors are unique, and everything feels thoughtfully made.” Another review highlights the atmosphere: “Cozy, welcoming, and perfect for studying or catching up with friends.”

The space itself is intimate and stylish, with minimalist décor accented by warm tones and subtle cultural touches. Natural light fills the café during the day, creating a calm and inviting environment. Seating is comfortable yet functional, ideal for both quick visits and longer stays. The ambiance strikes a balance between modern café culture and a relaxed neighborhood vibe.

Amenities include free Wi-Fi, takeaway options, and a friendly staff that’s eager to explain menu items to first-time visitors. While not a full-service restaurant, Dolan Coffee excels in its niche, offering a curated selection rather than overwhelming variety. It may not be pet-friendly indoors, but its welcoming energy makes up for it.

Compared to other coffee spots in the area, Dolan Coffee distinguishes itself through its cultural identity and attention to detail. It’s not just about caffeine—it’s about experiencing something new and memorable.

If you’re exploring the best restaurants in Washington, DC for a casual yet unique stop, Dolan Coffee deserves your attention. “ The Illy coffee for the cappuccino I ordered was smooth and sumptuous. Kudos to the barista! I ordered a baklava which was delicious—a delicate balance of filo, dates, honey and pistachio. I liked it so much I ordered two more to go, along with their chocolate baklava which I am eager to try at home. Clean shop, clean restroom. Nothing fancy here, and that's just fine by me. It's an unassuming, welcoming, intimate space with little nooks by the window and several little tables closely spaced. There was only one other person there just before 9 am. The vibe will be different, likely in a good way, at a busier time. Parallel parking on the nearest cross street is your best bet. It's attached to a restaurant, which I regret we had no time to visit. ”

“ Fresh and very delicious Baklava in a cozy and nice atmosphere. Will stop by again. Highly recommended if you are looking for a delicious Turkish Baklava. I would suggest Dolma to add Turkish coffee to their menu as well. ”

“ Consistent Illy coffee (espresso drinks only), never had a bad drink with it and the beans create such a smooth creamy coffee. The iced drink was made with a alcohol shaker as well which helped chill it without watering down the drink. The service was a bit slow but there was no one there so it didn't bother us. Place is inside another restaurant so the atmosphere was a bit odd and they desperately needed music. ”

“ I had a meeting here for a Spanish class. The instructor lived nearby and this is their favorite spot in Cleveland Park. It may seem slightly confusing where to sit if you just want coffee, but fortunately it was not crowded and we sat anywhere we wanted. The second floor is nice and quiet and offered as plenty of space and privacy to meet. I ended up trying a salad and a soup. I was very happy with both. I’m excited to try more and get dinner here soon. The staff, including the owner, were are very friendly and helpful. Another enjoyable find in Cleveland Park! ”

“ Beautiful place. Decoration is typical Uyghur and makes us remember KZ. ”

“ Here it is only listed as a coffee shop. It is both that and a sit-down Uyghur restaurant. You can get coffee and pastries at the counter, or sit down and order from the menu. Indoor and outdoor seating. Very tasty food; interesting new cuisine for me. Friendly service. ”

“ While returning from DC Zoo, I wanted to have some cold coffee and found this coffee shop (it also have a nice restaurant). Along with coffee they have a nice bakery section. I ordered cold White Chocolate Mocha and Almond Crossaint. Just loved the Crossaint, it has delicious filling inside and crunchy almond slices outside. The coffee was fine, but for me it was little too sweet. Also, the staffs were nice and swift. ”
